Winvic Pastoral is a family owned and operated beef and grain business based in Clermont, Central Queensland, Australia. We are passionate about producing tropical composite cattle based on leading Brahman, Poll Hereford and Braford bloodlines. We strive for continual improvement of our genetics and measure gains through performance recording of 200 stud progeny and 1000 commercial progeny annually. Our focus is breeding for commercially relevant traits with phenotype predictability.

The best Q Drop bull from the Winvic herd. 3579 ranked #1 for yearling weight and EMA in his cohort. He was used in a 3 month single sire joining to 40 yearling heifers that has resulted in 35 pregnancies (87%). His first daughters are calving now as 2 yr olds. At 5 yrs old 2023/24 will be his 4th joining season.

Balanced. Our three National Sale bulls offer buyers balanced traits for carcase and fertility.
Scanned today we are really happy with how they’ve shaped up. At 22 months of age with a soft preparation of 100 days oaten hay and 60 days Manildra DDG pellets they’ve delivered some great performance. The bulls have arrived at CQLX on hay only so they’re right to get straight to work, no letting down period required.

Not only are we pleased with their carcase scans but their Genomic Breeding Values are really impressive too. All three bulls offer great puberty and weight results and are pretty strong across all traits measured! They have had their Bos Indicus content measured through DNA genotyping and sit between 25-29%, perfect for their own longevity and perfect for designing progeny to hit the flatback market and the MSA grid! The bulls have also had EBVs generated through Breedplan and although the results are only preliminary (as there is not a lot of data behind the animals yet) it is a useful tool to compare animals within our herd.

In 2 weeks at the 2023 National Braford Sale we will offer bulls for the very first time!

The bulls we are presenting are Poll Hereford sired and classified under the Australian Braford Society’s new B registration system which allows registered Braford animals to be joined back to a registered Brahman or Hereford animal. The progeny of this mating is then eligible for inspection and if it meets breed standards it is then eligible for registration under the B system.

The bulls we offer are not Winvic bloodlines, they are a combination of outside genetics that has been working for us to improve productivity and efficiency within our herd.
They carry bloodlines of our best performing purchased registered Braford females matched to Poll Hereford sires who have proven themselves year after year within our herd. The cow lines carry pedigrees from todays most influential Braford herds and the Hereford sires used represent well measured bloodlines from some of the most respected studs in the Hereford breed.

We believe the new B system will allow rapid genetic gain by giving Braford producers access to new bloodlines that carry important economic traits, whether that be improved environmental adaptability from the Brahman breed or premium meat quality traits, improved weight for age and fertility or unrivalled docility that the Hereford breed is renowned for. It’s a crossbreeding system that we’ve been using within our Braford herd for over 12 years and we know it works.

The young bulls are from a tight joining window and have been performance measured since birth including yearling scanning for IMF and EMA and are some of the top performers of their cohort for both traits. They are genotyped and are Myostatin and Pompes free and sire and dam verified. The bulls have also been vaccinated using the Immune Ready guidelines so you can buy with confidence.

We believe that the most important measurement we can provide you with are those for fertility traits, these bulls are semen motility and morphology tested and dam calving interval is also measured.
